Yeah, there's a fire, you could read through what you missed
Jess kicked the vat of icecream into the flames. The vat itself caught fire. "Oh, damn... Forgot about that." The ice cream did its best to put out the fire in the area and Jess frowned and kept just using the extinguisher, side-walking around in an effort to cover as much ground as possible before it spread, shoving people out of her way when she needed to.

"I want to go home." One of the kids complained. Mallory, left as the only adult while Jess and Hazel took care of the fire, was struggling not to panic. "Do you... um, know how to get home from here?" "Yeah, it's only, like, two minutes away. Are you giving me permission?" "No, I-" "Thanks, winged lady!" He interrupted before darting off. Mallory sighed. She was bad at this. Hazel noticed one of the kids vanish from sight, and struggled not to panic as she took on the fire. The citizens had likely gotten bored of protesting in a faming town square, and left to go rampage through more of the city, leaving a scorched square in their wake. As the flames finally died down, Hazel dropped her now-empty fire extinguisher, exhausted. "Well, that handles that. What now?" As if in response, an earsplitting screech came from the speakers hanging from the streetlights, and screens atop buildings were brought to life as static lit up their screens.

Jess threw the extinguisher down triumphantly. It made a loud sound and she winced. She put both hands to her ear as the screeching drowned out the echoing clang noise. "What the hell?" She tilted back her head to look at the screens, squinting.

"Help!" Silver yelled. "My mother is stuck in her house!"

Mallory was startled by the familiar voice. Silver? Where had she gone off to? "You'd think these kids would know better than to run off alone..." She muttered, growing slowly frustrated. At least nobody had died quite yet. What in the world was that noise, though?
"The security camera switched off!" Topaz exclaimed suddenly, pointing at the spot of darkness where the red speck had once been. Amethyst, whose ears were still ringing, gave her cousin a surprised look. "After that hellish noise, all that gets your attention in the camera turning off?"
Around the city, screens lit up. Speakers began emitting noise. All of them gave the same message: "Find the light in the darkness."
"Well, that's... ominous." Mallory noted, concerned.
Augustus had thought the power had some back on, and tried to open his battered door another time, but found himself still stuck. "Are you kidding me right now?"

Jess cups her hands around her mouth. "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?"

"Weird.." SIlver mutters when she hears the speaker, still trying to open the door.

"Well, it's pretty dark, especially now that the fire's out. I'm going to assume someone has power." Mallory mused, shrugging. "So, I guess we're just supposed to find them, whoever and wherever they may be?" "This just keeps getting weirder." Hazel muttered.
Augustus studied his phone, trying to navigate away from whatever screen kept him stuck on the strange new message. "What light's it even talking about?" He grumbled, switching it off and giving up. "Everything's dead. It's pitch-black out there."

"What if the light we were supposed to find was the fire we just extinguished," mumbles Jess. "Damn... Oops." She glances at Mallory. "Or it's that. That works too and is probably more convenient for all of us." She puts her hands on her hips. "How are we supposed to find whoever has the power, huh? This city's massive. What if it's someone OUTSIDE the city. What then?"

Light... light... all the lights are out... Violet thinks. But wait... what about... nope. Look for signs. It could be metaphoric... maybe it's a game... don't overthink, Violet. She lifts her feet off the ground just a bit, and continues to hover, covering more ground this way.

"I say we just try to find any type of light we can. No harm in wandering around." Hazel suggested with a shrug. "I mean, I'm going to try and get these kids somewhere safe, but I'll catch up with you guys soon enough." "I wanna explore, too!" A five-year-old whined. "Maybe another time." Mallory nodded, pensive. "I guess that's fair enough."
Augustus, with nothing left to lose, finally picked up his bedside table a final time, and smashed it into his bedroom window. It shattered, and he fell with a startled shout. The trees that lined his house had broken his fall. He looked around, and saw no one. "Oh, come on. Hello? Anyone out there?" He called, looking for any signs of life (yo cookie should I get augustus here to help silver and then maybe silver and augustus can meet up with violet??)

"This better not be one of those 'diamond in the rough,' type of things," complains Jess. "I really don't want to have to find the chosen one. It always makes me jealous that I'M not the chosen one. Like, I'm so close, but I'm always just standing beside the chosen one. It's annoying as hell." She pauses suddenly. "Sh*t! My hat!" She runs back towards the candy shop and looks over her shoulder. "You! Wing girl!" She points at Mallory. "Find something to break open this door with!"

(Sure) Silver, heard a startling shout, she flinched.

Mallory nodded, looking around frantically for something she'd be able to lift up. She found half of a sign post, and managed to pick it up, though her arms ached and shook. "W-Well, um, here goes nothing..." She swung the sign at the glass window of the candy store, and it, of course, shattered. Mallory nearly lost her footing, and the sign clattered to the ground. "A-All of this for a hat...?" She muttered.
Augustus, without much better to do, wandered. He'd lived in the city with his mother all his life, but he still didn't really know his way around. Apparently, a bad sense of direction ran in the family. In the dark, it was even harder to navigate. "Hello! Anyone out there?"

Jess hops the window and vanishes inside for a couple seconds. She comes out with her jacket on, adjusting the brim of her hat. "It's a very nice hat, though." She glances around. "What were we talking about?"
Gona sleep 'cause we're leaving at 9 tomorrow! If you guys continue way so far that I can't casually catch up, have Jess say she just forgot smthn and run off
