Life in The City is great. There’s no crime, it’s always relaxing, and everything is a reasonably-priced luxury, from food to clothes to entertainment. The flawless glass buildings glimmer in the sunlight and light up like giant candles under the moon. Despite this, it seems a bit… odd.
Sure, a lot of places have been a lot more peaceful for the last couple centuries. After all, there aren’t any more humans in the way. Every last one of them was killed in war years ago. It’s still taught about in history, how the ‘plain yet cruel hunters’ were the only things separating the world from perfection. But even then, other countries still have thieves, murderers, and ‘bad people in general’, and it’s not all that surprising. The City, however… it’s not like that. The sheer tranquility of it all is almost unsettling.
Some blame the way The City is run. It is run by a mysterious group known as The Guardians, which control every single aspect. Every store, every system, and, as some rumors say, every thought and emotion of The City’s people. Anyone who objects to The Guardians almost instantly dies, or is overall removed form society in some way or another. Nobody really knows much about The Guardians except that’s what they do to those who don’t practically worship them.
But learning this, it brings up a question… what would The City be like without The Guardians doing everything for them? How long would they last? Would the entire place… shut down?
One day, the answer to that question was revealed.
It was a normal weekend afternoon, not a cloud in the sky. And then the power went out, the water stopped, and everything closed down. Some people were locked in their own houses, others unable to escape the locked doors of malls. Cars stopped instantly, accidents covering the roads. In town square, some of the older citizens are already panicking, chants of “Our gods have abandoned us!” and “The Guardians are no more!” coming from the mobs.
Others, however, plan on finding out what exactly happened. Why did The Guardians just suddenly… stop after all those years? It’d never happened in any sort of recorded history, ever. It wasn’t a shock people were panicking. But those few that aren’t, those few calm souls, they are tasked with bringing The City’s precious Guardians back. There is a popular urban legend that The Guardians live under the city. But such important beings are guarded by terrible, terrifying mutants. And even not considering that, it wouldn’t be easy to survive in The City that has fallen.
Setting: Mere minutes before the world goes out. It's a lovely winter afternoon in the City, the last weekend before Christmas Day. Town square is alive with people doing last-minute shopping, and people glance hopefully at the grey sheet of clouds above, wondering if the first snowfall of the year will be soon. No one is aware that there will be a far more sinister occasion in store. Everything's covered in Christmas lights, and the look of the city can generally be described as "borderline utopian," everything bright and shiny and high-tech. The power'll cut soon enough, though.
Forms: To be quite frank, I don't pay much attention to forms. Like, all I really need to know is the name, age, and what they look like. Personality, and the like are easily things that can be brought up in the RP. If you want a form, sure, I'm not stopping you, but if you don't care, that's not really a problem either. I usually just say a name, age, creature type, and stick a dreamselfy link on top or something.
Rules: Once again, I'm pretty chill with rules. I'll just have a quick list.
-I'd reallyreally strongly prefer the Story Mode RP style. Please try to do that.
-Your characters are oblivious civillians. They do NOT know what's going on. If you want to play as a villain, let me know, but keep in mind it'll spoil most, if not all of the plot...
-Please, have COMMON SENSE. Don't try to hook up two characters on the spot. Don't kill someone's character without their permission. Don't be stupidly overpowered. Don't fight over stupid stuff.
-In the universe of The City, Fallen, humans are declared extinct. It takes place after the typical "Creatures vs Humans" scenario, with a huge win towards the former, and the latter indeed presumably killed. Humans are a fairytale thing. Humans with powers don't count as humans, so don't worry.
-Don't steal anything. Characters are mine, plot's mine, yaddah yaddah...
-Have fun~
