"I guess that means I can't spend the night, huh?" Tanner didn't really expect to be able to, but... "D'you think the person who unlocked me last night could've followed us?" "I think," muses Jess, "that is very possible." "Yaayy..."

"So, we have two people we could potentially catch with this thing," Kara concluded. "Hey, that's a good thing, isn't it? Means a likelier chance this all won't be for nothing." "Or it'll catch one of our stalkers and the other'll get off scot-free," Mallory pointed out. "This is just great, huh? Just perfect." Somehow, all this talk of stalkers and hostage charms didn't faze the woman. "Welp. I wish the lot of you luck and hope it all goes well." And with that, she left.
(working somewhere shitty as this at the edge of civilization is probably like working in retail but worse. you just see so much shit nothing gets to you anymore)

"I assume the vampires will not be staying in this room; therefore, there is no issue." Yaoh moves aside from where he knelt floating by the door to let the woman pass. "The issue would be if they got unlocked and somehow made it to this room, where they would be trapped inside with all of us." "Being a vampire fucking sucks and I want to die," Declan mutters. "If someone just makes sure we stay locked until we turn, it'll be fine." Tanner shrugs. "Unlocking a vampire at night is a death wish, no matter what they intend to do, so even if I'm free I'll get to kill them soo..." "Easy-peasy," finishes Yaoh.

"So, we've gotta have someone watching you guys or something, now?" Hazel asked. "Well, that's definitely better than a repeat of what happened in the last town. I mean, in the end, it's not even really that bad-" "I think it's snowing," Kane interrupted, glancing out the window. "Yeah. Definitely snowing." For a moment, Hazel wasn't sure how to respond to that. Just another thing going wrong, huh? "Alright. That's a bit of a setback." She found herself leaving it at that. "Not really," Kara said with a shrug. "I mean, you just need a good heat source. And hey, if need be, I can help with that."

"Fucking great," breathes Declan, and Tanner makes a corresponding annoyed sound. "Oh. I was going to offer to guard, but if it's snowing I'd rather not." Guy paces over to the window to look at the snow. "Well, I'm not doing it, I've got a stalker to kill and a gun to get back." Jess pauses. "I mean, a stalker to hold hostage... But I want my fucking gun back." Yaoh folds his legs in the air, finger still resting on the half-finished chalk line he'd been making in the doorway. "Well if anyone wants to go out, they should probably do it before I finish this. You can come back in any time." Tanner glances at Kara and smiles a bit. "Care to come keep us warm and defend us? Be our knight in shining armor?"

Kara nodded. "Y'know, it could be fun. Plus, it'll probably suck a lot less if you guys have some fire." "She looks more like a rogue in stolen clothing than a knight in shining armor," King muttered. Clovis shrugged. "I wouldn't risk fighting her, armor or not. And I guess that's something, isn't it?" "I actually did steal most of these clothes," Kara allowed. "But that doesn't matter. Anyways, yeah, guess we should be going." She carefully steped across the doorway, studying the line of chalk. "Well. You guys have fun with that. Maybe actually take someone hostage." That'd be interesting to come back to in the morning...

"Yess." Tanner looked a lot more pleased now, meandering towards the door as well. Yaoh ushers them both out so he could finish. "You're probably more knightly than someone else I know... whose names is Knight..." Declan mutters. "Knight has nothing to do with this; don't even talk about them." Declan shrugs, and pulls the door to the room closed, sending a bit of chalky powder spiraling into the air. Yaoh didn't do anything about it; apparently it was still fine. "Well, that's as much as I can do for now. Whether you're infiltrator is a killing machine or a telekinetic, this will trap them in here. I'll bind them as a captive immediately after." "Someone lock the door," Jess orders.

"A knightly person named knight," Kara deadpanned. "Sounds a little redundant."
Kane locked the door. "Well, I guess we should've put up a 'do not disturb sign' first, but what's done is done." "Do you really think somewhere like this would have those?" Hazel muttered.

"Knight is one of the least knightly persons I've ever met," complains Declan quietly. "Pretty sure they only carry the sword around for show." "Newbie," scoffs Tanner. "Maybe if you'd stuck around more than a few minutes you would've seen what they can do with that thing." Declan shrugs, obviously not convinced.
Jess sits down at the foot of one of the beds, and slides the tarp bag to the side of her that was nearer to the door, though it was still close to her. She pulled both the gun and the knife from her belt, fingering the gun's trigger and smiling a bit. "I'm excited." "Please remember not to kill them," murmurs Guy.

"So, a kickass knightly person with a sword," Kara concluded. "That sounds pretty damn neat. Assuming they can hold their own."
"Well, if they try to kill us, we might have to," Clovis said, shrugging. "Ideally that's a last resort, but-" "Definitely a last resort," Hazel interrupted. "We're going to try and be civil first, alright?" "This person's been sneaking around and robbing us in the night. Do we really have to be civil to them?"

"They can. Everyone who thought Knight was delusional, or a ditz, they're getting proven wrong right now." Tanner glances over his shoulder, as though someone would be able to hear him. "Well not me," mutters Declan, shaking his head. "How was everything going before you left, by the way." "Shitty," Tanner chuckles. "Vampires were sharing rooms but H had to be quarantined because he killed another vamp while he was berserk, so that certainly happened. All the hunters were coming after us, half the haven's destroyed. It sucked balls." He glances at Kara. "Never become a vampire, okay? It's bad."
Jess sighs heavily. "We're not gonna be civil, we're going to take them hostage and use them for our own purposes." "That is a pretty large difference," squeaks Guy, and Jess just shrugs.

"I think I'll just stick with what I've got anyway," Kara replied, shrugging. "Being a vampire sounds sucky as hell, though. Sorry to hear about all that shit." She didn't feel particularly bad for them, but it felt like the right thing to say.
"We'll take them hostage, I know, but we can still be civil about that," Hazel muttered. "I don't know. Let's just... not hurt them unless they have it coming." "They totally have it coming," Clovis pointed out. "We're allowed a bit of hostility." "Not like we'll be killing them the second they set foot in here," Mallory agreed.

Neither of them said anything after that. After a pretty short time, they found an area where they could be relatively far from each other, but still within Kara's line of sight. Declan didn't really hesitated before handcuffing himself back to a tree, shaking his sunglasses off his head. Tanner just made an annoyed expression at his own handcuffs.
"You sure this is gonna work?" Jess glances back at Yaoh. Yaoh was hovering over a bed in a lying down position, resting his head on his arms. "Positive." Jess nods, then tips her hat over her eyes a bit, leaning back against the foot of the bed she was sitting by.

"Shouldn't you, like... get to that?" Kara asked, gesturing vaguely at the handcuffs.
"I wonder how long it'll take for them to notice," Topaz said with a laugh. "I mean, there'll just be this moment of 'oh, I've been duped!' and they'll be totally taken by surprise. That could be funny." She also briefly considered the possibility of their tailer trying to attack them immediately after said realization, but decided not to voice that.

"Sorry," mutters Tanner, handcuffing himself as they speak. "Just... to reiterate, being a vampire sucks. I haven't had to use handcuffs like this for over a decade, maybe two..." He leans his head back against the tree and sighs. "So, uhh, you can leave as soon as it's dark."
"I hope they don't shoot me," murmurs Jess. "If you're scared of getting shot, you might wanna stay down or like fake being asleep during the confrontation." "This seems a bit dangerous," comments Yaoh.
