"Well, I'm not going back home until I help end this chaos or I find that there's no way for me to help at all." Yaoh turns his gaze on them, smiling a little bit. "And, I don't mean to assume, but what I heard from your friend before she punched me-" "You punched me first," Jess interjects. Yaoh pauses briefly before continuing. "I believe you already know who or what I'm looking for in the mountains. You shouldn't be surprised you're not the only ones."

"I... guess that's true," Clovis allowed, shrugging. "Kinda weird, though." "Not really," King replied. "People have probably been wanting to hunt down the Guardians since before everything went wrong. This man here's just heading in the right direction like the rest of us." "Hey, I was right, too," Kane piped up. Kara laughed. "Wow. And here I thought this was some obscure knowledge. That was pretty dumb of me." "So... you want to help fix things?" Hazel asked, smiling.

"Still pretty obscure," admits Yaoh. He looked embarrassed to add, "It's taken a lot of eavesdropping to get this far. But, yes, I'm going to help fix things if I can. Keep the peace." Jess chuckles humourlessly, keeping her eyes forward.

"Not much peace left to keep," Kara replied with a laugh. "Well, hey, as long as we don't get any more people, because some might try to get in our way."

"You have point, it's pretty chaotic out here." "I disagree," comments Jess. "In my experience, for things like this, it's usually better in numbers. ... Actually, it depends whether we're going to talk to them or attempt to overthrow them. Anyways, my point is, the more bodies there are to be attacke-" "LET'S.... NOT... think about that right now," interrupts Guy, voice shrill.

"We're probably going to overthrow them in the end," Kane said, shrugging. "If they're the ones who thought this whole City deal was a good idea in the first place, they probably aren't very reasonable people." "Let's try to think of ways to talk them down before we do anything stupid," Mallory replied. "I mean, they're also pretty powerful. Would we, logically speaking, stand a chance?"

Jess looked a bit trouble, nodding in agreement with Mallory. "We'll go in peacefully... But we'll be ready to fight. Hah, I guess that's in general the best way to go about everything in life, huh?"

"Being always ready to fight?" Augustus asked. He didn't like the sound of that. Mallory shrugged. "She probably means we have to be careful. Aware. Y'know. In case things go in the worst possible direction." "But hey, nothing wrong with being always ready to fight," Kara added with a laugh. "Well, now that we've got an idea of how we're gonna handle this, I say we find somewhere to rest. Figure out what we're doing. How far away those damn mountains are."

Tanner looks up at the sky, checking the time uneasily. "How the hell are we supposed to judge distance to the mountains from all the way over here?" Jess shakes her head, chuckling quietly. "We better just... pack well and hope it's not unbearably long." "If it's more than one night that might be a bit of an issue for those two," murmurs Guy. "I fucking hate being a vampire," Declan mumbles, lowering his head.

"Yeah. Definitely doesn't help that there's no shelter out there. Practically a desert," Hazel agreed quietly. "We'll... figure out something, right?" "If we will, I don't even know where to begin yet," Clovis muttered.

"Well... In the last town, while I was out, I bought something that could help. Maybe three doses of vampire serum." Guy pats one of his jacket's pockets. "Oooo-hooh!" A grin lights up Tanner's face. "Damn, I'll come with you guys just if it means I'll get a night on serum." Guy just smiles and nods tensely. It was relatively well-known that the serum was USUALLY functional, leaving the vampires conscious and in control but still dangerous. Aside from that, it was usually addictive.

"Is that, like, a vampire drug?" Topaz asked quietly. She was a fair bit lost. Kara shrugged. "I guess you could define it like that. I mean, I wouldn't know, but... probably."

"Basically, it keeps you in control at night," explains Tanner, apparently pretty eager. "And, lemme tell you, I've been dead for DECADES and I've had one night on that serum - that was the best night of my life." "It's a vampire drug," confirms Declan quietly, though he looked pretty interested as well. "It's hard to get, though, so if we have any other option than using it..." Guy shrugs a little bit, looking at the ground. "But, you know, just so you know."

"There're vampire drugs," Clovis remarked with a laugh. "You learn something new every day, huh? Back underground, we didn't even have alcohol. They banned it in the second year." "Well, it didn't really benefit anyone," King pointed out, shrugging. "It benefitted me. Anyways," Clovis looked around. "I think that looks like an inn, or a hotel, or something." Really the building just had "STAY-A-NIGHT" on its roof in flickering neon letter. "This is definitely a crappier place than the last. Damn. By the end of this, we'll be on the streets. Can't believe we slept in a house a few days ago."

"Yea? I'll buy you a drink, if you want," Tanner says with a grin, looking sideways at Clovis. "If I drink or eat anything other than blood I'll vomit," adds Declan quietly. Tanner looks at him with a pointed, distasteful "not you" expression.
"If the walk to the mountains takes any more than a day, we won't be sleeping in the streets," says Guy. "Rather, we'll be sleeping in the complete middle of nowhere. Which is actually considerably better than streets when you really think about it."
