(based off of four Old Spice scents that were jokingly called the 'American Hogwarts Houses' on Tumblr once)
Old Spice Boarding School for the Magically Gifted- America's best academy of witchcraft and wizardry. Often called the 'Hogwarts of America', this school goes by many of the same functions as its Scottish counterpart; with four Houses, the House Cup, and many other things. Each House is chosen based on one's innermost values, even if their holders don't realize they have them. And here you are, a First Year sent a letter (by eagle) telling them thy have been accepted. As you board the train to Old Spice on a secret platform in an old train station, you wonder what friends you shall make, what foes you shall battle, what streets of the completely-magic town in front of the school, and exactly what lies in the forbidden tunnels underneath the school...
You could end up in Bearglove if you are a natural-born leader who values leadership and loyalty; with Beargloves, always clad in ivory and slate blue, always being those to take charge and guide their fellow wizards and witches, they are easily the most active house. It's not to say they're aggressive, though; they would just as easily help a struggling student with their casting as they would lead the class alongside their professor. Their head professor is the Care of Magical Creatures professor, Dorothy Ursallegra.
If you hold knowledge and learning closest to your heart, though, you will find yourself at home in the black and gold-colored Hawkridge; Many great things have been invented in the Hawkridge chambers, by great and swift minds. Intelligence isn't the only thing that one must have to be in this house; a desire to learn and understand those around you must be present in all Hawkridges. Muggle Studies teacher Allistair Anthren is the Head Professor.
Foxcrest will be where you find yourself if ambition and clever thinking are in your best interests. The house of tricksters, being a Foxcrest guarantees you will learn all the twists and turns and shortcuts the school keeps hidden for their students to find. They will never give up on something they believe in, and wouldn't dare think of turning their backs on those who need them. If you're equal parts clever and perserverent, you might as well be one of these bronze and green-wearing students. The Transfiguration teacher, Odette Egalite, leads this house.
Wolfthorn is your best bet if you're a bit strange, but curious, enjoying the thrill of the unknown. Their students, wearing dark purple robes instead of black and accenting this with silver, have always been known to be a little... Strange, even scary to some. Despite this bad rep, Wolfthorns aren't all as bad as they seem. Some are, going to crazy measures to summon the unsummonable, but most are just quite interested in what lies just beyond our point of view. If you value curiosity and will never accept that we know everything about our world, than Wolfthorn is for you. Divination teacher, the strange and out there Gerard Necrani, leads these children on their quests to see what lies beyond.
Your bags are full, you have your (falcon/cat/Husky puppy/toad) in a carrier by your side, a wand is in your hand, you have change to spend in the town you've heard mentioned by a few Fourth Years, and you can hear the train to Old Spice whistling in the distance. Best wishes in your first year of learning magic!
