"It may be." Arata pondered, scraping a rock off the roof and throwing it as best he could at a faraway tile, which once again, did nothing. "Oh... some of these are safe."

"Um, um... hang in there, okay?" Rien found another rock on the ground in a nearby corner, hefting it up, and tossing it onto the first tile he came across, then stepping pretty far back, shielding himself with his hands a bit.

"Yes, I am hanging." Arata deadpanned. He continued throwing rocks into the distance, one of them triggering a minor explosion. "Thank goodness that was not near us."

"Stop that! You're gonna kill me!" In the next few minutes, Rien drops a rock on a tile and the rock immediately bursts into flames, one tile just makes a deep rumbling sound, and he finally found one implanted into the wall. He pushed it carefully and, some way back down the hall, Arata was dropped.

Arata was unceremoniously dumped on the floor. "Pain." he said simply as he dragged himself to his feet. He rubbed his bruised forehead, grinned sheepishly at Rien from across the hall. "Rejoice, I am free."

"You alright?" calls Rien, cupping his hands around his mouth so he didn't have to cross back over the tiles to talk to him.

"Yes." Arata called back, making his way further into the room by using the usual rock strategy. So far, so good. But it was just a matter of time before one of them messed up.

"Please don't get us both killed," urges Rien, before looking back and continuing himself.

(shall we do the flood next? ) "I will try my best." Arata said, scrutinising the tiles, as if you could tell which ones are traps just by looking at them.

"Some of the tiles don't trigger anything," cautions Rien. "Or, at least, don't trigger anything here... that I can see..." He drops the rock again and there's another distant rumbling sound. "Hm."

Suddenly, water came crashing in, filling the room all the way to the top. The current was so strong it pulled the two along the cave. Arata flailed his arms about in an attempt to swim - he'd never learned how, and he was really regretting it.

Rien's scream was cut off as the water hit him, sending a flurry of bubbles letting the last of the oxygen from his lungs. He clawed uselessly against the water, eyes wide open despite the tide. His hand seizes Arata's sleeves as water fills his lungs.

Arata opened his eyes, dazed. The first thing he did was hack up a lungful of water. He looked like a drowned rat. The water level had gone down; it only came to ankle height now. It seemed they had been swept out of the tile room. He scoured the area to find Rien.

Rien was not far away from it. He'd gained consciousness before Arata and had spent the entire time vomiting. He threw up some mixture of water and black goo, the same murky black liquid falling from his eyes. The dark liquid fell and diluted in the water.

"Ugh... Rien...?" Arata went over to him and saw the black goo Rien was vomiting up. He sat down beside him. "We survived, I think... you sick?"
