sorry to rain on everyone's parade but as a big pokemon fan I just gotta say pikachu very much has a gender (this has been a pet peeve misconception of mine since like 3rd grade) feel free to hc pikachu as genderless but the fact is that pikachus can be biologically male or female there's even a way to tell the difference www.serebii.net/omegarubyalphasapphire/fpikachu.jpg here's a female pikachu cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/4/49/Ash_Pikachu.png/250px-Ash_Pikachu.png here's a male pikachu (Ash's Pikachu, specifically) the difference is the heart-shaped tail the females have ash's pikachu has been confirmed male in the anime, both english and japanese dubs using male pronouns (and in game distributions of Ash's Pikachu, where it's labelled male) I'm so sorry if I'm crushing anyone's, like, nonbinary pikachu headcanons but yeah, ash's pikachu is a dude HOWEVER there are CANONICALLY nonbinary pokemon, too and a lot of the canonically genderless pokemon are legendary, actually that's right, the god (Arceus, that is) of the pokemon universe is genderless along with several others tadah

Yes, female Pikachu had a heart-shaped notch at the end of the tail.
I believe that in generation 1, there were, like, IVs or something in the game's coding that hinted at gender (in something lame and sexist female pokemon couldn't have a max attack IV), but otherwise, you wouldn't know until you transferred them into the next gen over. In gen 2, gender was integrated so you could breed Pokemon eggs and stuff. If memory serves, the game looked at the attack stat to decide the gender of the 'mon when transferring. Don't worry, the whole "no full attack stat for females" thing was removed in Gen 3.

For some reason, they give all the Legendary Pokemon genders! It is annoying you know.
And also, Ash is either over 2000 or there are multiple Jirachi because he has seen Jirachi awaken twice now! Once in a Movie and once in an actual Anime Episode! It is ridiculous!

We'll have to believe multiple Jirachi.

(Whiney Kid Mode: Activate!) But I don't like that theory! It is stupid and hard to believe! But Ash being over 2000 is also stupid! Why does Pokemon have to be so stupid sometimes DX!
(Proper Me Mode: Activate!) I guess it is the best theory. And I realized that it is over 1000 and not 2000. Oops.

I'm one of the few people who doesn't believe in the coma theory. I believe in the theory that Ash doesn't age because he saw Ho-oh, and it's said that anyone who sees Ho-oh is granted eternal happiness, and people tend to be happier in their younger years, so it stops Ash from aging? Or, you know, maybe he did turn 11, and the narrator was mocking him at the start of the Unova series by saying he's still 10? XD
