"I have no idea." Arata admitted, scanning the area. The initial happiness of accomplishing his goal was starting to wear off, and he promptly remembered that cities are Horrible and Bad. He stuck close to Rien. For better or worse, the gloomy banshee dude had become his lifeline.

"Mm, I don't recognize the town right now, which is a shame. The rest of my stuff is... elsewhere..." Rien murmured quietly. With someone near him, he didn't feel crazy talking aloud. "Find us an inn, Arata."

It was easy to find an inn in this humble little place. Arata pointed in the general direction of one, but didn't seem too keen to lead the way anymore. He lingered uncertainly in one spot.

Rien shrugs and heads in the vague direction. It was an odd reversal of roles, Rien so at ease with Arata lingering in uncertainty. Rien found the inn and quietly pushed the door open, already fishing in one of the inside pockets of his jacket for money.

Arata followed Rien to the inn and waited as the latter checked his pockets. "Do you have money?" he asked. "I have no money." Pretty unsurprising. He relaxed a little now that they were inside, and thought excitedly about all the amazingly fun times he and Rien were going to have travelling together, or whatever the hell they were even doing.

Rien glances at him, pulling out a small wad of money from his jacket. "Before this whole quest, I had a good deal. I lived the same place I worked, and I still got paid. I've got a bit more money in storage, but this should last us a little while." He rubs his jaw nervously and glances down. "But, like, we have to share rooms and stuff because I'd rather not blow all my life's savings." He approached the lady at the counter and quietly asks for a room. She wordlessly passes him a key.

"I see!" Arata said thoughtfully, mulling over what he'd just learned. He decided he'd probably leave most of the money management to Rien. Arata didn't even know how to count or anything. How he'd gotten by until now was a mystery. "I want to look at the room! I wonder what it is like." he said happily.

"Knock yourself out." Rien passes Arata the keys as he pays.

against my better judgement.... yes
Arata took the keys cheerily, having perked up considerably. He checked the room number on the key and found the room. "Wow. There is so much stuff in here." It was pretty ordinary and not cluttered, as you'd expect of an inn. He sat on the side of the bed gingerly, spacing out.

hooooo boy
Rien followed behind him some distance away once he was finished at the counter. He didn't reply to Arata, and didn't pay much attention to the room except to check if the lights worked. "First things first... Arata, I'm going to go buy some new clothes because I've felt disgusting for a couple days now. Do you want to come?"

"Okay!" Arata agreed, getting up and preparing to go. It occurred to him that he should probably get some new clothes, too. He had no clue where to start when it came to fashion. Maybe he'd just buy a shitton of belts again.

"Uh, alright, good," stammers Rien. He hadn't expected Arata to agree, but too late. "C'mon then. Bring the key." He shuts the lights back off.

Arata took the key and put it in his pocket before making his way out the door. "Clothes." he murmured uselessly to himself.

Rien didn't try to make conversation, focusing more on trying to navigate the strange town. There were very few people walking through the streets. Rien stuck to the main streets.

It wasn't long before Arata was making a beeline for a clothing shop. "Here's one." he said quietly, pointing to it. "Will this do?" Without waiting for an answer, he'd barged right in, windchimes clinking as he opened the door. He looked around in mundane awe.
