wonder if i could play sil as the media's tragic hero. that's more of an adeline's boy, though. unless she still just... doesn't want him. but hm. she didn't want him because he was uncooperative, playing along with the tragic hero would make him cooperative. hmmmmm

so like have i implied that kali is the daughter of the guy who kidnapped nott before. because i think i should. raises a bit of issue if the kidnappers was already killcrop's foster brother but killcrop absolutely wouldn't consider him family at that point lol. no i haven't implied kali is that guy because i've just implied she had a hand in killcrop's death. hm. depends on how fantasy it is ig.

"Oh, no," laughs Rashmi. "I'm more like... the most popular person backstage. I may be in charge, but I could never be the lead." "So who would be your lead?" "Pandora Christie," says Rashmi too quickly, immediately wishing she hadn't.

transferring............. gender presentation headcanons
like magni and chris, who both started presenting more masculinely embracing the roles they love, with magni specifically letting her beard grow in tandem with not repressing her bloodlust anymore and chris specifically embodying her perfect ideal of the librarian, them contrasted with someone like jake, who was just a difficult child who didn't cooperate with anything her parents tried to put her in and had no feminine influences during her teenage years and didn't have the same sort of coming of age.
and like, Day, who i consider quite feminine relative to the rest of them overall and the least likely to joke about her gender, but externally presents pretty much just as masculine and is pretty unlikely to correct anyone who mistakes her unless it's actually relevant like Please Don't Percept Me At All Until I Ask To Be Perceived in general.
despite her actual physical body not looking super feminine i don't consider Nott that gender non conforming because she's really not actively considering it at all. her presentation is entirely comfort and practicality and a little bit of hair baggage. Iduna though. so fucking highly conscious about her presentation. also has a physical body that's not the most traditionally feminine but conforms to gender as a joke in the same way she's ~sooo formal and polite and nice~ as a joke. offsets a face she considers completely ugly with beautiful hair and clothes to make people Think about it.
Rashmi strikes me as someone who probably had a lot of guy friends as a child and then got a valentines from a girl in middle school and i was like dude i can be her boyfriend but like as a girl o///o and never looked back. very arguably not binary but like in the same way i am which means you can't use words about it. edit this is all assuming she's not trans which i still have not decided on and probably never will. [rashmi voice] my gender is made of boyfriend material
and Kazoo has probably been this way since she was really young, i have a feeling one or both of her parents was also really gender non conforming and Kazoo took a lot of pride in being the weird girl in that way. she was never made to feel bad about by her parents and her peers and even her sister might've actually been a bit meaner but idk what's up with sam so fuck her. she was probably The Butch by high school and would help all the gnc freshmen either buzz their hair or do their eyeliner whichever was more relevant. incredibly none of her self esteem issues are connected to her gender presenation at all what a king.
okay i'm done because noah's a boring man and this part of maggot's psyche COMPLETELY eludes me (although it's possible she started presenting on the masculine side to compete with her first gf's bf. probably) thank you rambling channel <3

Rashmi is usually a pretty reliable choice aa a designated driver, but when she's in a good mood, she's historically been known to be easily coerced into a drink. She probably also fucking haaates being told "Rashmi you're drunk" even if it's haha affectionate like fuck you im still fully capable YOURE drunk Also drinking makes her so much more likely to act on romance
rashmi hates havin pics taken of her

kazoo, post-curse-removal, standing on top of the train, making an exceptionally dramatic pre-death-obituary speech, and meera, who obviously came up to stop her from jumping, is just like "KAZOO THAT WAS GREAT" and kazoo is like "it was?!?? i guess that means i'm NOT doomed permanently??? HUH."

but like what if Ankita saw Saint with the mask off and knew it was Nova before the photograph and was deliberately hiding it.

i think maggot spent a night in her childhood home waiting for harlene to die, possibly very slowly - a weak poison? i wonder if harlene fought back during that time.

maggot, to rass: you came all the way to hell but you didn't even bring a gift?
"Would you like a recap? It's been a long time since I've reread my testimony, but I did it often enough back then that it shouldn't be too hard to give it one last time." Maggot sits, straightens her back, crosses her legs, then steeples her hands. "About three months after my thirty-third birthday, the police came to my door and told me Harlene Wroxeter was dead. They'd found her hanging by her neck in the middle of the parlor, not doing much, just decaying. In fact, they believed she'd been decaying for about three weeks by then." She cocks her head with a little shrug. "I told them it didn't surprise me. My mother was insane, too obsessed with her own death to ever pay attention to me. In fact, Rass..." She points at him with a little smile. "I first heard the rumour that the Derosiers were assassins from her. You can imagine she wasn't a fan of theirs. I would guess she only got worse with age, desolate and senile..." "So I was surprised to learn the death was being ruled suspicious. They told me that they'd found some unusual substances in her system, but she was just too rotten to determine if they were of any significance. They told me there was some sign of a struggle, but that it might've been self-inflicted. But the real fact of the matter was... someone had seen someone on the property around the same time the coroner estimated she'd died, a strange sight considering the isolationist nature of my mother. And the fact of that matter was that it was me." "You see, she called me. It was the first I'd heard from her in fifteen years. She told me to come home. The idea disgusted me, but..." Maggot laughs. "You know me. I just can't look away. So I went home." She shakes her head, almost exaggeratedly disappointed. "It wasn't worth my time, of course. Instead of a welcome or an apology, the woman just raved at me. Told me I would be next. At the time it was all nonsense, but after I learned that she'd hung herself after I'd left..." Maggot looks away, nodding. "'I would be next.' Hah. "There was probably just enough information to put me on trial. Not to pronounce me guilty, of course - just to try me. But it never proceeded. Because of one nail in my proverbial coffin." Taking a deep breath, she forces a grin onto her face. "The will." "It was an obvious motive, between her fortune she cut me off from and our broken relationship. And while IBIS gutted the remains of the house, the will arrived to me." She closes her eyes, expression somewhere between peace and fury, and she recites: "To my daughter, Benedict, I leave nothing. I direct my executor to let the fucking maggots have it." She stares straight forward, smiling, for a few moments, until her eyes focus back in on the two of them. "Not that any of it matters now, obviously. Her final cruelty saved me from a fate worse than death. How..." She grins at Az. "... lucky for me, hm?"
In the police investigation file Rass found in the library:
The primary investigation and coroner's report, dated a year before he'd read it: - Harlene Wroxeter found dead, hanging from a noose in her parlor. Estimated time of death was three weeks before she was found. - Cause of death couldn't be conclusively determined due to extreme decay of the body, but it is presumed to be asphyxiation. - Unusual substances found in her system, but her body was too decayed for it to be identified. - Some signs of struggle, but her body was too decayed to tell if it was self inflicted or otherwise. - Death tentatively ruled suspicious due to obscurities and 'the personal history of the deceased.'
Two well-documented interviews, one short and one much longer: - The closest neighbour to the Wroxeter residence testified to a figure enter the property on a night around the estimated time of death. Witness testified it was unusual considering Harlene rarely had visitors. Witness was unable to confirm if/when the figure left.
- Harlene Wroxeter's one living relative, her 33-year-old daughter Benedict Wroxeter, was contacted and interviewed. - Interviewee seems shocked when informed about the death. Expresses a lack of contact with her mother due to childhood issues and a previous financial cut off. - When questioned about an absence from work around the estimated time of death, interviewee admits to visiting the residence 'before she was dead, obviously.' - Interviewee testifies Harlene had somehow found her daughter's work phone number and insisted she return home only to 'rave incoherently' at her once she arrived. Interviewee recalls the phrase 'you'll be next' but little else she was told. Interviewee says she left the same night she arrived. - Interviewee denies having taken anything from the residence on departure. - The interviewee brings up the name 'Derosiers' once during the interview, suggesting Harlene believed the family were a family of assassins.
A copy of Benedict Wroxeter's criminal record is attached, including assault, bribery, fraud, and disturbance of the peace, most from Krovkost and the last from Acania, all a number of years before Harlene's death.
In addition, there is a medical file of Harlene Wroxeter's with the words "paranoia," "asocial behaviour," and "possible senility" highlighted among a variety of physical issues including a low body weight and temperature, excessive alcohol consumption, and developing cataracts.
A typewritten entry is attached asking someone to look into Harlene Wroxeter's employment history and to 'consider all the possibilities.'
Dated a few days after the typewritten entry, the final page unceremoniously declares that the case was closed before Benedict Wroxeter could be convicted with a scribbled note: "See Exhibit 11." No exhibit was enclosed.
Maggot is silent for a few moments, clearly relishing this moment, then she smiles and dips her head. "I used formaldehyde. My thirty-third birthday marked a lucky number and the day I decided I would do it. It was all I could think about for weeks. At least," she laughed, "going through with it would get it out of my head. I thought so, anyway. She never called me. I showed up on my own - she took one look at me and said, and I quote, 'well, well, back to feast on my corpse, are you?'" She pauses, then looks up. "And yes! That's exactly what I planned to do!" "I forced the embalming fluid down her throat. It only took a little. I watched her convulse. I stayed in the house waiting for her to succumb." Any sadistic joy on Maggot's face has faded. In fact, recounting it makes her look a bit ill. "She was already dead when I kicked the chair. If they'd found her any sooner, it probably would've been obvious. But fortunately..." Now she looks really ill. "A day passed. Then a week. Then two more. And the longer I waited the deeper the thought of her rotting in there burrowed into my mind. It was almost a fucking relief when the will came. Almost." "After I saw it, I went gambling the first time since I'd been kicked out of Krovkost. Lost horribly, if I recall correctly. I also recall that on my way back I considered rewriting the will - fraud wouldn't push my luck that much further, would it? But by the time I got back, the will wasn't in my office anymore. Some fly on the wall had seen it. So like a logical person at the breaking point would, I downed a bottle of pesticide and had a seizure." She shakes her head. "God bless Argent for finding me." She goes silent like she's surprised to be saying her name.
