loy transfer The young bloody captain of the Red Dread - daughter of a union of two very famous and now very dead pirates - propelled to infamy by that story coupled will the way she's just been absolutely burning paths through her enemies since she was like 13 #bornforbloodshed. Now she's like 18 and all her jackets are still too big on her and half her crew is kind of scared of her. Full name is Loyal Maria Jackson, insists Loyal is her first name not a title, often called Loy by crew who don't know her more familiarly as Mari. Raised by rats kind of wishes she was one. A bit of an absent demeanour, single-minded and completely bereft of emotional awareness, though her resting face is often with a smile and she's always in company. Also I think she's stuck in the fourth wall I think she sees the arrow that tells her where to go and she doesnt understand.
Incomplete list (ie just my favs xoxo)
๐โ๏ธ Mylo Graywharf (first mate) - Mari's first mate and childhood friend. Grew up with her, thinks she's the coolest person in the world, very good at overlooking her weirdness. - Bit of a nervous klutz, excitable, a berserker who frequently ends up direly wounded. Definitely better choices for first mate, but Mari will bite if you're mean to him so the crew's not gonna object. - Tallest lankiest young man you've ever seen. Prematurely grey, teeth totally fucked, light and comfortable clothes. Rat features. - Mari calls him Mylo or often My, he exclusively calls her Mari and captain.
๐โ ๏ธ Rathorne "Ratgut" Garvish - Infamous old retired pirate captain who Mari beat the shit out of. Despite his doubts and how often she scares him, has grown some affection for the girl. - Mari returns the affection; Ratgut doesn't need her protection like Mylo and she trusts his advice; A voice of reason, but an evil voice of reason. - Burly and portly, bearded, grey and curly. Probably has a peg leg fr. Rat features. - Mari calls him Ratgut, Rat, or Cap, he calls her Mari, sometimes Loy (when talking about her), Maria (usually when he's mad), and captain only when he's forced to.
๐ธโ๏ธ Fran Hanneran - A spectacular swordswoman 'gifted' to Mari by Aubrey, a powerful captain who's taken it on himself to 'supervise' her; Fran reports back to him. - Mari solidly tolerates her; Fran doesn't really fit in, given everyone knows she's more or less a spy, but damn if she can't fight. - More privateer than pirate, too good for this. The not-evil voice of reason, thank god. Not shy, but clever enough to know to fade into the background. - Mulatto spaniard; Small and light on her feet, curly-haired, clean and pretty and well put-together. Might give her blue eyes :/ Frog features. - Mari calls her Fran or Hanny, Fran calls her Loy or captain.
๐ฆ๐ก๏ธ Faro Vela - Bandit Mari beat the shit out of but then she kept him because she likes him. - Skittish and quick to stab, absolutely horrified by the fact he's Mari's new favourite boytoy, slowly learning to resign himself. - Never removes the bandana hiding his mouth, usually has his hood up, brown skin and big suspicious eyes. Salamander features. - Love-hate relationship with Fran because she's the only other sane person here but she's sooooo annoying though. - Mari usually calls him Vela or Vel, he calls her captain, occasionally Loy when talking about her, and Mari only when he's forced to.
๐๐ Miyabe (helmsman) - Her oldest friend after Mylo; Broke her out of jail and helped reunite them. Strong, serious, and dutiful, tied with Ratgut as the person Mari trusts the opinion of most. - No longer her right hand, but doesn't mind after she turned the ship around to help him resolve an old debt. Drinking buddies. - As tall as Mylo but absolutely built, dressed like a warrior. Long thick black hair, facial hair, black eyes, intimidating face. Horse features. - She usually calls him Yabe, he exclusively calls her Mari.
๐๐ก๏ธ Don Sancho De Lobo (novice cook) - Young spaniard soldier who's here now; Out of his element, but has learned to stop fighting it; Doesn't try to be the voice of reason anymore unless he's asked. - More relaxed than he was on arrival, but still too righteous for a pirate, feels conflicted about whether he's still a knight on the daily. - On the small side, curly dark brown hair, sweet smile but doesn't use it enough. Still keeps pieces of his royal armour. Monkey features. - Mari calls him Sancho (since learning his name is not, in fact, Don); He calls her Captain Loy or Miss Loy.
๐๐ชข Gonzalo Montejo (barrelman) - Young spaniard ex-soldier, once uncreatively nicknamed Crazy Montejo; But he's great with a crossbow, so Mari sees nothing wrong with him. - Usually in his own world, big non sequitur guy, quick to change moods; Erratic physical behaviour, does not know what masking is. - Close with Sancho (to Sancho's own surprise); Most normal dude on the ship learning the manner of the weirdest dude on the ship because he got homesick. - Messy wavy brown hair, sideburns? Resting face has wide-ass eyes. Enjoys painting his face and weaving homemade hats and crowns. Monkey features. - Mari calls him Gonzalo or Montejo; He calls her Miss Loy and sometimes Mari.
๐งต Orix Elane (non-crew) - A tailor she rescued from his service in the imperial capital, after they almost killed each other. - Refused to join her crew (or do any work), but considers her his favourite customer and let her pierce his ear. Her crew thinks he's a bit insane. - Forgives her for not wearing the fancy little suit she bought from him, but does refuse to tailor any jackets she took from dead bodies. - She calls him Elane and probably doesn't know his first name, he calls her Mari and probably knows everything about her but doesn't care.

The Troupe of the Two Seasons was composed majorly but not entirely of believers in the old gods, a tradition that's been dying since the eternal winter began. These days followers are so few that, aside from wilderness guides, the Troupe is the most well-known practicing group in recent cultural memory. Followers that remain are generally considered pagan.
Natale & Rickard: Areligious, both completely independently coming to the conclusion all gods have abandoned humanity, to different degrees of cynicism; Rickard would tell you god was ashamed, Natale would tell you they just left. Claude: The child who adapted best to the dominant culture; It can be attributed entirely to boredom that she rarely attended church as an adult despite her father bringing her as a child. Just as disinterested in what people thought of her for it. Barely remembers anything about the Troupe's religion, but worries sometimes that the puppets are a divine punishment, by either gods new or old, and in the latter case, that the new god might have protected her if she'd been better. Katrina: She presents her pagan heritage proudly, but was affected profoundly by her father who abandoned the old gods and became a religious fanatic as his health declined. Deep down, some part of her does view the new god as the true god, and herself as a heretic; Avoids churches and religions events. Giorgie: Even as a priest, Jean never believed in the new god, just sincerely enjoying the good he could do. She can attribute it to him that she attends church and religious events despite probably having the most faith in the old gods of all the children. Grigor: Never abandoned the old gods. Won't preach as a rule, but has fistfought more than one priest and now they avoid him. Viktor: Mutters "fucking pagans" whenever Nate and Katrina drag him into anything. Product of a father who makes him go to church and an aunt who thinks church is stupid.

Ignoring maribelle on her special day buy I've become single mindedly obsessed with magni and way lego night Magni buys maribelle the mantis and comes home with a second lego sat. "Why" "You expect me to go to the lego store and not come home with a lego set? from the lego store?" Unironically think they would both have such a nice time sitting together in their warm quarters drinking a bit of wine and working on a lego structure. Way wakes up and its fully built and magni is asleep beside her still dressed and she shakes her like "magni. did you stay up all night finishing the build." magni mumbles something about needing to finish. "......... without me?" looks up at her fiancees big sad eyes, immediate also big sad eyes,

Eccentric genial old man who used to be the best in his field (solo/tech/medtech etc) but retired to pursue his TRUE PASSION - COOKING (fell in love with the food scene of New Nola and opened a hole in the wall restaueant) (it is Not good) (job for money to help restaurant) (he thinks his character arc is finding the Key to Perfecting his Cuisine) (sincerely believes anyone who recognizes him recognizes him for the soup shop not the career)

i think everyone, despite him being the master of the tower, truly does underestimate sabrin. there's a general belief that he IS only master because all the truly powerful wizards killed each other, and it's probably to some extent true, he's maybe like middle-high in terms of power. but everything that's thrown at him that might dethrone him, he comes through, he comes through tattered and exhausted but also like he knew he'd always make it through.

Illanya padded up the stairs onto the deck. Sunlight shone upon it, dusty and grey. Somehow, it seemed even quieter up here in the open than the creaking silence below, nary a soul to be found. Then, breaking the illusion, came the gentle drifting melody of a lute. Illanya followed the sound of plucked strings towards the quarter deck. The bard, Claude, sat with her feet propped on the wheel - the only living member of the crew. She mumbled a tune along to the music, spefific words inaudible. Creak. When the board creaks under Illanya's foot, Claude jumped, toppling the chair beneath her. Before Illanya could apologize, Claude groaned, "Sorry. I forgot you were here." "Where is everyone?" Illanya asked as she helped Claude to her feet. "They're here," she reassured her, righting the chair. "Just... less than usual." Taking a seat, "I always felt like there was a reason humans are naturally wary of the dark. They don't fare so well in daylight, most of them, when everything is clearer." She looked up at her face, clearly seeing the contradiction of the undead in her company, but ultimately just shrugged, setting her lute back in her lap. "I wish I could give you a better explanation, but I'm afraid I only know what I've seen. They're not even all quite the same." "Really?" "Mm." She plucked at a few strings. "Many of them sleep, in a sense. Walk through the crew quarters and you can see traces of them, outlines and silhouettes. Some of them are even still awake - in the candlelight of the lower decks, you might even still be able to talk to them. None of them are really all there, though. Some of them, you can't see at all." She looks over her shoulder, towards the rail of the stern. "Sometimes, it's as faint as a scent. Sometimes, you can only find them if you know where to look." Illanya followed her eyes, then her instructions, and took a slow breath of air. A smell so faint she could almost swear she imagined it. "Burning hair," she whispered. "Mm." Claude reached out - and for just a moment, Illanya knew she was brushing a strand of Yohai's hair, knew the figure sat by the stern rail was curling in a bit tighter. Claude drew back her hand and the stern was empty. "If they're not in the captain's quarters, they're around here." "Are they alright?" Claude looked towards her. "They're dead." "... Right." She couldn't say she felt alright, either. "... Sit, if you want. There's nothing much else you can do and, while I won't complain about some peace, I don't mind some company for a change." With a small nod, Illanya lowered herself to sit on the deck. "Did you ever imagine you'd be so knowledgeable about undead." Claude snorts, but the silence lingers a moment before she answers. "... I have a cousin who saw spirits. I doubt I'm so good with them as her, but I think she'd appreciate a visit, sometime." A small smile touches her face. "... Why are you here?" Claude cracked a smile herself, glancing over then down at her hands. "I met Yohai, long ago. Accidentally wandered onto a party and started playing with the band. We danced. I brought them home, showed them my work - I was a puppeteer. I ended up carving some for them. Based on a story they told me. I could tell it was some kind of catharsis. When they found me again, I was as good as dead anyway. Might as well bring me aboard."
