Name: Kara, though the media just knows her as "The Arsonist"
Age: 23 years old
Gender: Despite a very popular rumor, she's indeed a woman.
Appearance: Kara looks, pretty much, as you'd expect from her. She's tall, sort of muscular, and her skin is tanned from spending so much time outside lighting stuff on fire. She has messy, chocolate brown hair she ties into a side ponytail most days. Her eyes are a startlingly bright shade of gold, the only hint she is something other than human. She has a fair amount of scars, most of which she can't remember the origins of. Overall, she's got this sort of unstable, menacing look.
Creature/Powers: An elemental, more specifically a pyrokinetic one. She's surprisingly powerful, too. Fireproof, capable of effortlessly summoning flames to burn things to a crisp.
Personality: Kara's, as you'd expect, quite ruthless. She is, after all, a wanted criminal. Her favourite activities are arson and violence, but that isn't much of a surprise. She's bad with people, and mostly uses threats to get her way. There's nothing she won't do, and she is quite effective at scaring others. In the few instances where she can care about others, it usually is an obsession more than anything. She is bad with attachment, and usually ends up resorting to violence out of confusion. While not smart in the traditional sense, she is surprisingly clever and capable of reading people, and uses this to her advantage. In every other way, however, she is easy to outwit, and never really gives up, even when it's obvious she has no way to win. She's a dirty fighter and a sore loser.
Brief Backstory: Most of it's a mystery. She had a relatively normal childhood, but one day just snapped, or so they say. Most are convinced she was a merciless creature ever since birth. The first official incident that got her a criminal record was when she destroyed her own school, and from there, things just got worse.
Current State: Mildly immortal, with a hint of demonic tampering. Maybe a bit more than a hint.
Some Random Tidbit: She'd never admit it, but she has a weird admiration of "pretty things." Mostly glass things. She always wanted to learn how to make sculptures and the like, but got... distracted.
Name: Kingswell Izlan
Age: 29 years old
Gender: Male
Appearance: King has a sort of dignified look to him, and while he'd never admit it, he cares a bit more about his appearance than the average individual. He has sort of long, wavy blonde hair, and is quite pale from spending most of his days cooped up in his lab. He's quite tall and slim. His most noticeable feature, however, would have to be his eyes. They're a bright silver colour, which sparked rumors of him being not human. He has a bit of a piercing stare, and always seems to be thinking about something. Analyzing. While some people could consider him handsome, he sometimes just creeps people out.
Creature: Despite what others may say, he's 100% all-natural human.
Powers: Has none. Humans don't get powers.
Personality: King is a bit of an enigma in terms of personality and motives. No one's quite certain what's going on in his head. Truth be told, he supresses a lot of his feelings. His priorities are more than a bit skewed, as he puts his projects and studies before himself and others. These things lead to him being quite distant and struggling socially. He is, however, still entirely capable of caring for others, and capable of regretting his actions. His obsessive tendencies towards whatever catches his attention keeps him from noticing until it's too late, but once he does, it hits him hard. This, too, he attempts to hide, though with mixed results.
Brief Backstory: After getting too obsessed with an experiment, the renowned scientist used his son as a guinea pig. The side effects left young Augustus Izlan in great pain, so King murdered him, and this caused his arrest.
Current State: Afraid, broken, full of regret.
Some Random Tidbit: He really loves animals. And classical music (though he doesn't know how to play an instrument. He's always wanted to learn, though.)
Name: Sage Thielos
Age: 19 years old
Gender: Male
Appearance: Sage sticks out like a sore thumb when with the rest of the group. It's glaringly obvious that he'd never fought someone in his life (that is, before the story). He's small and skinny, with dark skin, bright green eyes, and long, white hair. He's always had the tendency to wear clothes that are a couple sizes too big. Overall, he looks quite feminine, and this is a great source of insecurity for him.
Creature: Earth elemental.
Powers: The limits of his abilities aren't entirely certain, though they mostly seem to be ground/stone/sand-based.
Personality: For the most part, Sage is simply a timid, gentle young man who's been through a lot. He struggles with standing up for himself, and basically has no sense of self-worth. He's more than willing to follow, frightened of what'd happen if he took lead. Despite this, though, he's quite capable of holding grudges. While he'd never act on them, and is more than willing to forgive, he never really forgets, which adds unnecessary conflict to pretty much everything. After all the thing he's been through, however, he seems to have become a bit more desensitized to everything, and he could eventually do something more drastic than he would've before.
Brief Backstory: Sage, a transgender male who moved around a lot, naturally had a rough time growing up. He was bullied frequently, never really had any close friends, and generally struggled. The first real friend he made ended up being involved in an illegal black market, and he ended up wrapped up in all the issues as well. His friend died, and he was arrested simply for being in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
Current State: Very much possessed, struggling to cope
Some Random Tidbit: Sage had a pet dog, once, but it ran away.
Name: Stella
Age: Uncertain, has the appearance of a young adult
Gender: Female
Appearance: From a distance, Stella could pass as human. Most of her abnormalities are only evident up close. She's quite pale, her skin with stitches here and there, and she is also on the petite side. Her hair is long and strawberry blonde, usually tied up in two pigtails. She greatly enjoys fancy, frilly clothing. Her eyes, unnaturally green, don't reflect light like they should, and have a glassy look to them. On occasion, a few string-like appendages extend from her back, like a cruel parody of the thing you'd pull on a toy doll.
Creature: Stella is some sort of mechanic creation. Even she isn't sure. Appears to be modelled after a doll of some sort.
Powers: She basically gets all the perks one would expect from being entirely mechanical. She doesn't need to eat or sleep, and can lose limbs only to stitch them back on. Her appendages are especially dangerous in battle, able to tear a human being to shreds.
Personality: Stella is, to put it simply, a troubled individual. After a life of having no control over the atrocities she's committed, she's grown cynical and bitter. She has absolutely no sense of self-worth, and seems indifferent to whatever happens to her. Because of how much she's isolated herself, she has issues communicating with others beyond snarky, sarcastic remarks.
Brief Backstory: Really, wherever Stella came from, it's really an enigma. She's some sort of serial killer, and all of her victims shared the first name of "Mary." After finally deciding to give up, she allowed herself to be captured and imprisoned.
Current State: Concerned. Just, basically, concerned.
Some Random Tidbit: She never really picked up any hobbies or anything, and it's an insecurity of hers.
Name: Gardenia
Age: Uncertain, could be several centuries old
Gender: Female
Appearance: Gardenia, at first, is simply a pale, headless woman. She is quite tall, and little more than skin and bones. When cut, she bleeds some sort of dark smoke. Her head is usually put somewhere for the safety of everyone else. With it equipped, she becomes far more powerful. Her head has long, reddish hair she usually ties back, and her face seems permanently stuck in an ear-to-ear grin. She has too-wide eyes that have difficulty focusing, and are constantly darting around. Overall, it's somehow more unsettling than when she's headless.
Creature: A dullahan.
Powers: Shadows bend to her will. She can hide into them, crawl through them, and weaponize them. With her head, this becomes far easier and she becomes even more powerful.
Personality: Gardenia, after years of being on her toes, has gained mostly a reserved, thoughtful personality. She strains to blend in, preferring to not leave any sort of impression. While she does sometimes add her input, it's only in vague remarks or the occasional snark. She has a sense of humor but doesn't show it much, and does quite often disagree with the more brutal actions of others (such as Kara) but prefers not to voice it. With her head on, this struggle to suppress most of her personality is thrown out the window, and she becomes far more sadistic and unstable.
Brief Backstory: Gardenia was a notorious thief for years, using her shadow-sneaking and lack of a face to her advantage. One day, she ended up caught by surprise and arrested.
Current State: Slowly going mad, but in her words, "Aren't we all? Some just have less trouble hiding it."
Some Random Tidbit: She has surprisingly passionate opinions about the strangest things, but never really talks about anything, so no one will ever really know. ("GOLD IS A STUPID MATERIAL. IT'S UGLY. AND TACKY. I HATE IT.")
Name: Amethyst Gemstone (it is heavily assumed her mother uses a fake name. this is why.)
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Appearance: Amethyst, for someone only in her mid-twenties, looks like someone who's been through an awful lot. She has tanned skin, with many scars, mostly on her hands. Her hair is long, dark brown, with violet streaks here and there. She is tall, with a bit of muscle, but overall doesn't seem particularly intimidating. After a bad run-in with someone breaking into her house, she lost an eye, and typically wears an eyepatch to cover that.
Creature: <okay author's note here in most AUs she's a werewolf but here she's just gonna be another elemental I'm lazy>
Powers: As a fire elemental, she... summons fire. It's violet, for reasons uncertain. Also, she seems far more vulnerable to injuries by burns than other elementals, such as Kara, who's literally heatproof.
Personality: Amethyst is a strange one. As the black sheep of a rich family, she didn't have the best upbringing, and is a bit of a loner. She never really had any close friends, or wanted them. After everything that happened to her, she became even more reserved, and quite cynical. The violent temper she used to have is kept in relative check, though mostly by mild, constant fear more than anything. She tries to rely on logic, but sometimes her feelings get the best of her. She sort of misses the person she used to be, and quite clearly recognizes that she's changed.
Brief Backstory: Amethyst was raised as one of many daughters of the famous noble, Crystal Gemstone (that most certainly isn't her real name). She, with her rebellious streak, was usually left out of family activities. One night, while housesitting, someone broke into the Gemstone mansion and attempted to steal from it. Amethyst tried to stop them, but to no avail, and was quite injured in the fight. Since then, she's been even more excluded, seen as a humiliation more than anything.
Current State: Overall, just mildly irked by the questionable stuff everyone's doing. For once, it seems she's the one with common sense.
Name: Altair
Age: 16 years old
Gender: Male
Appearance: Altair doesn't really look like most human kids his age. He's a bit on the short side, quite pale and skinny, and overall gives off this vibe of being small and fragile. As the result of a birth defect that resulted in him having fragile bones that never healed quite right, he ended up with a bad foot at a young age, and has noticeable trouble walking without a cane. He has mossy green hair that's usually a bit messy, and greyish-brown eyes. Because of his bad eyesight, he wears glasses (though by this point he's probably either broken or lost them).
Creature: Human
Powers: Humans don't get powers.
Personality: Altair is, as much as he hates to admit it, not the strongest, physically and emotionally speaking. He's a socially awkward bookworm, and never really was a people-person. While he tries to run mostly on logic and reason, his emotions can get the best of him, and he usually ends up panicking. Along with a general need to prove himself and constantly feeling inferior, Altair's sort of constantly on edge, though he would never admit that, either. Really, he's just a bit on the unstable side, and being stuck with a bunch of murderous fugitives certainly didn't help.
Brief Backstory: No one's really sure where the kid came from, though most suspect he's from space. In the MT 'verse, it wouldn't really be the strangest thing that's happened. With his lack of a job or anywhere to really go, he ended up helping out at King's labs, though this mostly consisted of babysitting Augustus, King's son.
Current State: Worried. Afraid. Tired. Kind of ticked off, but he doesn't really have the guts to say it.
Some Random Tidbit: He really likes astronomy. Tried teaching Augustus that kind of stuff. Didn't work. Turns out he's not the best with children.
Name: Allen
Age: 15 years old
Gender: Male
Appearance: Allen, before he says or does something, actually is almost cute in terms of appearance. He's pretty small in terms of height and weight, and has messy black hair that sometimes falls into his face. His eyes are mismatched, one green and one bright pink, though he can't remember if they were always like that or Paula did something to them. He has a bit of a tan, and greatly enjoys dressing up in bright clothing. Polka dots are a favourite pattern of his.
Creature: Some sort of sorcerer. No one's really sure.
Powers: He has extremely powerful telekinesis. Paula might have done other things to him.
Personality: Allen can be most easily described as a messed-up kid. Having been raised with only Paula as a caretaker, he doesn't exactly have the same set of morals as other people. As far as he's concerned, death is a slap on the wrist, and the suffering of others is funny, because even though he can't feel pain, it surely can't be that bad! He is best described as extremely childish, prone to tantrums or rambling on and on about the strangest things. Every once in a while, he lapses into a more sadistic persona, aware of what he's doing, but enjoying every moment of it. If he even realizes how troubled he really is, he shows no signs of it.
Brief Backstory: Allen was a circus kid, but his entire family died in what many would assume was a tragic accident. He was adopted (not exactly with consent) by Paula, and she raised him.
Current State: Having fun, and only vaguely aware that he shouldn't be having fun.
Some Random Tidbit: Due to what he's been through, he sometimes says or does things that even manage to surprise Paula. At one point, he made a crown for himself out of butterfly wings (after painstakingly ripping every wing off the still-living bugs). Another time, he tried juggling human hands after Paula jokingly told him it was impossible.
Name: Paula (though she’s gone by many others in the past)
Age:
Gender: Female (probably?)
Appearance:
Creature: An android, of some sort.
Powers:
Personality: Paula, from the little that is known about her, works much differently than the average person with morals and feelings. She has incredibly skewed priorities, and, being immortal, tends to avoid bonding with others. All attempts at making friends end with them dying and her losing another chip of sanity, if she ever had any in the first place. She’s quite jovial, prone to making jokes of every kind, and being quite carefree. Being immortal, the concepts of “standards” and “crossing lines” rarely come into play. Overall, she puts a fun, fascinating story above the wellbeing of her supposed friends, and only gets involved if she worries about said story getting an ending she isn’t happy with.
Brief Backstory:
Current State:
Some Random Tidbit: Probably owns a t-shirt captioned “SOULLESS AND PROUD.”
WHOA. THAT TOOK DAYS. HERE WE GO. GOOD FORMS.
